Product care instructions

Our Maison creates exceptional shoes with artisanal craftsmanship, using superior materials that offer remarkable flexibility. Made predominantly from leather a natural and living material our shoes require regular maintenance to maintain their beauty and comfort. Their artisanal construction may feature minor imperfections, highlighting their unique character. Over time and with wear, your shoes will develop a natural patina, making them even more distinctive.

Key Care Tips

Wearing

Be sure to unlace your shoes before putting them on or taking them off to prevent any tearing. Also, avoid prolonged contact and repeated friction with textiles that may bleed, such as dark jeans or new clothing, as they can transfer their pigments. Therefore, we advise against pairing light-colored leather with dark clothing, and vice versa. Avoid abrasive surfaces that could damage the leather through friction or snagging.

Leather soles

Leather soles offer unmatched comfort but require meticulous care. Therefore, we do not recommend them in rainy weather. For such conditions, we suggest opting for models with rubber soles.

Shoe Stretchers & Shoe Horns

To prevent deformation, avoid using shoe stretchers with Repetto shoes. Instead, we recommend using tissue paper to maintain their original shape. Similarly, using a shoe horn is not advised, as it may weaken the stitches and potentially cause tears.

Protection

Keep your shoes away from water and moisture. In case of rain or water splashes, allow them to dry on their side, away from any heat source, and with newspaper inside to absorb moisture and prevent color transfer. Prolonged exposure to water, sunlight, strong artificial lights, heat, and greasy, alcoholic, or solvent-based substances should be avoided to prevent damage such as discoloration or yellowing, especially for light-colored leathers.

Store your shoes after airing them out, with heels facing outward, in their dust bags and boxes in a dry place, away from heat sources and direct light. Sunlight or contact with other leathers or materials can damage or fade your leathers. We also recommend using tissue paper to help maintain their original shape.

Repetto Materials

Classic Leather

Our leather is full-grain, supple, and of excellent quality. A protective surface treatment is applied to the leather, making it more resistant to light and friction. It has a smooth appearance and may show variations in grain from one piece to another, making each pair unique.

Regularly clean the surface of your shoes with a soft cloth to remove dust.
Protect them from light, heat, and moisture to avoid damaging the leather.
Regularly waterproof your shoes and use appropriate care products, such as our Embelisseur balm, specially designed to nourish, protect, and shine the leather.
For superficial stains, gently dab with a damp cloth.
Store them using tissue paper to maintain the shape of the shoe and prevent creasing.
Alternate wearing your shoes with other pairs to reduce excessive wear and allow them to breathe between uses.

Patent Leather and Vegan Patent Leather

A patent coating is applied to either a leather or textile base after achieving the desired dye. This leather undergoes a specific treatment that gives it a glossy, sophisticated appearance, making it resistant to abrasion and scratches.

Regularly clean the surface of your shoes with a soft cloth to remove dust.
Protect them from light, heat, and moisture to prevent damage.
Use appropriate care products, such as our Sublimate Oil, specially designed to maintain the shine of your leather.
Due to the risk of color transfer, avoid contact with other leathers or dark-pigmented products.
Store them using tissue paper to maintain the shape of the shoe and prevent creasing.

Suede Goat Leather

Suede goat leather comes from goat skin that has been delicately buffed on the flesh side to achieve a very fine nap and a velvety appearance. It is a soft, supple, and durable leather.

Regularly clean the surface of your shoes with a soft cloth or a soft-bristle brush to remove dust.
Protect them from light, heat, and moisture to prevent damage to the leather.
Regularly waterproof your shoes and use appropriate care products, such as our Elixir, specifically designed to revive the original color of your leather.
For superficial stains on suede goat leather, gently rub with our Crepe Brush or a crepe rubber.
Store them using tissue paper to maintain the shape of the shoe and prevent creasing.

Crystal Suede Goat Leather

Crystal suede goat leather is goat suede onto which a sublimation of glitter is applied.

Regularly waterproof your shoes and use appropriate care products, such as our Elixir, specifically designed to revive the original color of your leather.

Metallic Leather

A metallic film is applied to the surface of a leather base. This leather undergoes a specific treatment that gives it a metallic and modern appearance. It is a delicate leather, sensitive to friction, snags, and scratches.

Satin Leather

Satin is an iconic material for the Maison, reminiscent of the world of dance. Originally used on pointe shoes, it proudly brings a touch of classical ballet to the city, offering a graceful and distinctive look.

Avoid non-smooth surfaces and sharp objects, such as nails or jewelry, that could rub against or snag the material.
Waterproof your shoes very regularly with an appropriate product, such as our Waterproof Spray, specifically designed to protect against stains and rain.
Store them using tissue paper to maintain the shape of the shoe and prevent creasing.

Textiles

Our textiles add a touch of originality, refinement, and elegance to our collections. They are delicate materials, sensitive to friction, snags, or scratches.

Pony

Pony leather is a type of leather that is more or less shaved, on which patterns (such as leopard prints) can be applied.

Protect them from light, heat, and moisture to prevent damage to the material.
Regularly waterproof your shoes.
